Define When Your Store Accepts Orders
OrderRules lets you set independent business hours for each day of the week. Orders are only accepted during your configured hours, and checkout is automatically blocked outside those times.
How to Set Your Schedule
- Go to Schedule from the dashboard
- For each day of the week:
- Toggle the day on to enable ordering, or off to close for the entire day
- Open Time -- when you start accepting orders (for example, 9:00 AM)
- Close Time -- when you stop accepting orders (for example, 6:00 PM)
- Click Save
Example Schedule
Monday: ON 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Tuesday: ON 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Wednesday: ON 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Thursday: ON 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Friday: ON 9:00 AM - 8:00 PM
Saturday: ON 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Sunday: OFF
What Happens During Open Hours
- Checkout works normally
- The storefront banner shows "We're open" along with remaining capacity
- Products are available for purchase
What Happens When Closed
- Checkout is blocked at the server level (cannot be bypassed)
- The banner displays your custom closed message
- Customers see when you will reopen next
Using Close Time as a Cutoff
If you run a same-day or next-day delivery business, set your close time as your order cutoff.
Example: Close at 2:00 PM so you have time to fulfill same-day orders. Customers who arrive after 2 PM see a message like "Orders for next-day delivery must be placed before 2:00 PM."
Timezone
All hours use your store's configured timezone (set in Settings). If you are in New York and set open hours to 9 AM, that means 9 AM Eastern regardless of where your customers are located.
Tips
- Match your schedule to your actual production or fulfillment capacity
- Use the Calendar for one-off schedule changes like holidays
- Changes take effect immediately after saving -- no delay
