Installing OrderRules

Install from the Shopify App Store

Getting OrderRules onto your store takes about two minutes. No coding or theme edits required.

Step 1: Find OrderRules

1. Go to the Shopify App Store
2. Search for "OrderRules"
3. Click the OrderRules listing

Step 2: Install the App

1. Click Install
2. Review the permissions OrderRules needs (order data, theme access)
3. Click Authorize to confirm

Shopify handles all the technical setup behind the scenes.

Step 3: Launch OrderRules

After installation, OrderRules opens automatically inside your Shopify admin. You will see the onboarding guide, which walks you through first-time setup.

If you navigate away, you can always reopen OrderRules from Shopify Admin > Apps > OrderRules.

Enable the Theme Embed

This adds the store status banner to your storefront so customers can see whether you are open or closed.

1. Click Open Theme Editor from the onboarding guide
2. The OrderRules embed is auto-highlighted in the sidebar
3. Toggle Enable in the top-right corner
4. Click Save

Enable Checkout Validation

This is the most important step. Without it, your rules are visual only and can be bypassed.

1. Click Open Checkout Settings from the onboarding guide
2. Scroll to the "Order limit rules" section
3. Toggle OrderRules Validation to ON
4. Click Save

Verify Your Installation

Back on the OrderRules dashboard, confirm you see:

• A green checkmark next to "Theme embed enabled"
• A green checkmark next to "Checkout rule enabled"
• Your store status showing as OPEN or CLOSED

You are now ready to configure your first rules. Head to the Quick Start guide to create your first order limit in five minutes.

Requirements

• Any Shopify plan (Basic, Shopify, Advanced, or Plus)
• A modern theme that supports app embeds (all Online Store 2.0 themes)
• No other checkout validation apps required
